UMBILICAL PRECOMMISIONING SUPERVISOR

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE

Generic Key Responsibilities & Activities:

The Umbilical Pre-commissioning Supervisor is overall responsibility for the successful preparation and execution of the umbilical pre-commissioning projects.

For clarity the Umbilical Pre-commissioning Supervisor has the responsibility for the umbilical monitoring & testing activity that takes place on the yard during the preparation and on the vessel/platform during the execution including the supervision of umbilical technicians during the work scopes.

Ensure and promote technicians onsite receive sufficient coaching/training and supervision to carry job safely and with good workmanship.

Ensure that all operations undertaken at the worksite are competently planned and executed in accordance with the project’s procedures.

Lead site progress meetings with Client’s Representative and Operations Team/Project Team.

Job Specific Requirements:

Preparation of equipment prior to offshore execution:

  • Identify required equipment and spares
  • Carry out pre-mobilization equipment checks
  • Flushing of hydrostatic test equipment prior to use

Offshore Execution

  • Supervise umbilical technicians at worksite
  • Report to Project Manager/Offshore Construction Manager
  • Follow operational procedures and generate umbilical test reports
  • Maintain daily operational reports, generate JSA’s for job specific tasks
  • Liaise with vessel and company representatives during work scope execution
  • Carry out umbilical testing scopes which include; hydrostatic testing, electrical testing, fiber optic testing and flushing.
  • Work in accordance with the Company’s Management System

Operational Key Factors

  • Must be prepared to work offshore for extended periods of time
  • Physically fit and able to obtain offshore survival and medical certification
  • Will be required to attend and pass all job specific training
  • Promote safety culture at worksite with technicians

Experience:

  • Preferred 5 years in a similar testing role
  • Knowledge of hydrostatic testing at pressures of up to 20,000psi
  • Fluid particle analysis experience including particle counting with the use of a binocular microscope.
  • Experience of fiber optic and electrical testing including OTDR, TDR, Conductor resistance and insulation resistance.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience of a variety of hydraulic fittings and parts
  • Some previous experience with flowline testing and pigging equipment would be advantageous but is not a strict requirement, as cross training will be given
