SU CLINICA FAMILIAR is Hiring a Weekend Pediatric Appointment Clerk Near Harlingen, TX

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

Greets, welcomes, and answers the questions of patients accessing the Clinic in a cordial and professional manner. Performs all duties which involve active interaction with the patient in a manner which ensures the patient has a pleasant and satisfactory experience. All interaction with the patients is in adherence to the principles, policies, and procedures with a focus on customer service. Serves as a member of the PCMH primary care team by providing accurate and timely appointment information and working with the team to assure same day access is available for patients wanting to see their primary care provider and to assure continuity of care as their schedules allows. Follows SC policies and procedures that are essential in carrying out the patient health care plan. This position will cover the Weekdays, weekends and or extended hours when needed by the clinic.

Vacancy hours are Saturday and Sunday starting at 10:45 A.M.- 4:30 P.M. also extended hours if needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (with or without accommodations)

Works closely with the clinical staff to ensure patients' needs are known. Works with patients to appropriately route calls and arrange appointments that meet the needs of the patient.

Work assignment will include all clinics: Pediatric Department. When making appointments, reminds the patient of the importance of keeping appointment, rescheduling their appointments, and reminds them to bring all medications they are currently taking.

Approaches patient care as a team involving clinical and non-clinical staff (e.g. Physicians, mid-levels, educators, and appointment staff to achieve patient care objectives. Assures all information in the computer is current and stresses to the patient the reasons why information must be current. Obtains copies and signatures of pertinent information and routes to appropriate department for scanning or verification. Makes necessary corrections. Enters all appointments in the computer. Assures communication with the patient is culturally and linguistically appropriate. Make arrangements for interpretation services when necessary.

When arriving a patient, acknowledge the questions as presented by the patient's parents. Completes all patient visits upon receiving the disposition slip from the nurse or patient. Confirms patient appointments a day in advance for assigned providers. While exiting the patient, reminds the patient of the importance in keeping an appointment or canceling an appointment. Reschedules all the no shows, as requested by the provider or team member. Must maintain full schedules at all times for assigned physicians and mid- levels.

Schedules Tele-health appointments for our providers, from incoming calls or recall list and No-Show's.

Attends trainings/meetings when requested. Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with clinic leave policy and performs other duties assigned.

Responsible for their own safety as well as the safety of others.

Knowledge of PCMH Model
Knowledge of front desk medical office procedures, techniques, and practices.
Knowledge of computer software (EMR, Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.) programs
Skilled in excellent customer relations and communication skills
Ability to resolve patient service issues and exercise independent judgment.
Ability to read, write and speak in a clear, accurate and professional manner; includes active listening skills and understanding medical terminology.
Ability to speak, understand and write Spanish and English.
Ability to apply critical thinking skills while performing daily responsibilities.
Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness.
Ability to prepare records in accordance to detailed instructions.
Ability to recognize, evaluates, solve problems and correct errors.
Ability to work in a fast-paced positive environment.
Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule.
Ability to maintain client and office confidentiality.
Ability to read, write and spell accurately.
Ability to operate a keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment.
Proficient in beginning/intermediate computer skills and typing.

Ability to apply critical thinking skills while performing daily responsibilities.
Excellent interpersonal skills reflecting clarity, diplomacy and communicates accurately and effectively with all levels of staff and management.
Ability to lift 20 lbs. Ability to fully comply with the enhanced infection control requirements of the clinic.


Minimum Qualifications/Certificates/Licenses/Registrations Required:

High School Diploma or GED. Must be Bilingual (English/Spanish). Certified Medical Office Specialist from an accredited school and one year experience as front desk clerk/appointments clerk in a hospital or clinic setting. or two years' work experience as front desk/appointment clerk in a hospital or clinic setting.

Special Instructions:

Due to the nature of SCF Services, it may be necessary for employees to work extended hours or other variations of the usual shift to ensure adequate care to patients and to maintain service to the community.
