Job duties:

• Responsible for submitting DME claims to insurance companies and payers including Medicare and Medicaid.
• Correcting billing errors and resubmitting claims to insurance carriers for payment.
• Calling insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary.
• Follow up on payments errors, low disbursement, denials reasons.
• Identifying and billing secondary or tertiary insurances.
• Researching and appealing denied claims.
• Prepare and submit appeals to insurance companies.
• Contact patients and/or providers to request missing information to bill the correct party.

Skills and Requirements:

• Knowledge of insurance guidelines including HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer requirements and systems.
• Competent use of computer systems, software, and 10 key calculators.
• Depth knowledge of medical terminology, medical records, and medical coding.
• Familiarity with Medicare guidelines, and HIPAA regulations.
• Computer skills are essential for success in this role.
• Effective communication abilities for phone contacts with insurance payers to resolve issues.
• Ability to work well in a team environment. Being able to triage priorities, delegate tasks if needed, and handle conflict in a reasonable fashion.
• Problem-solving skills to research and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals, collections.
• Maintaining patient confidentiality as per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
• This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate medical billing processes and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Experience:

• Certified Biller/Coder preferred but not required
• 2 year experience in healthcare insurance collection field with the knowledge of working aging reports as well as being able to read and understand Explanation of Benefits.
• Experience on billing to Medicare and Medicaid preferable.
• Computer and word processing skills, and ability to learn new software quickly
• Knowledge of Medisoft (preferable)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team oriented environment
• Strong attention to details
• Able to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
