Description STV is seeking an Engineering Specialist who is an entry-level engineer to join our Structural team in Los Angeles office. The Engineering Specialist will help analyze and design maintenance facilities, transit stations and other facilities for various transportation infrastructure projects. Projects could be new or addition/alteration of existing facilities. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver who takes pride in providing safe, economical and innovative design. The candidate should be passionate about structural engineering and looks forward to learn and grow as a structural engineer. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful completion of projects, meeting high-quality standards, and adhering to project timelines. Responsibilities: Analyze and design structures complying with building code and project specific requirements. Prepare clear and well organized calculations for plan check or authority having jurisdiction and help prepare details and drawings. Attend project meetings and collaborate with architectural and other disciplines. Lead smaller projects as needed. Respond to RFI’s and review shop drawings. Perform field activities such as site visits and structural observation. Help foster a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with concentration in Structural Engineering. Master’s degree preferred. Preferred Minimum Coursework: Structural Analysis, Advanced Structural Analysis, Reinforced Concrete Design, Steel Design and Structural Dynamics or Earthquake Engineering. EIT (Engineer-in-Training) is preferred. 0-3 years of progressive experience in structural engineering with a focus on building structures. Some experience analyzing and designing concrete, masonry and steel structures. Knowledgeable in California Building Code and referenced standards including ASCE 7, ACI 318 and AISC Steel Construction Manual and Seismic Provisions. Experience with structural design software including RAM Structural, Enercalc, RISA 3D, ETABS, SAFE, SAP, TEDDS Etc. Well organized, excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in team environment, Takes ownership and responsibility for the work.
