Studer Community Institute (SCI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on a mission to improve the quality of life for all people in the diverse communities we serve.

SCI’s Building Jobs department provides programs, training and resources to narrow skills gaps, develop successful leaders, grow organizations, create jobs and drive economic development. The Building Brains program focuses on early brain development, specifically ages 0-3, and informing, equipping and supporting parents with the tools and skills needed for their child’s future success.

About the role:

This role will work with all SCI programs and staff. The role will plan and execute all aspects of training events, the annual Building Brains fundraiser, Light Up Learning, the Gingerbread Event and other SCI related happenings in the community. This role will collaborate with the Building Jobs Department to plan SCI’s annual EntreCon Conference and EntreCon Awards. This role includes managing volunteers and participating in long- and short-range planning, logistics, and the creation of event budgets. This is an event planning role with revenue targets.

Some things you’ll be doing include:
  • Plan and execute SCI signature events to include Light Up Learning, Gingerbread Event and EntreCon Extas as well as other SCI events throughout the year.
  • Includes planning of logistics, content, speaker recruitment and volunteers
  • Execution of these tasks will be supported by SCI staff and board
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with sub-contractors and vendors
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, Building Jobs Manager, and EntreCon Planning Committee to execute the annual EntreCon Buisness and Leadership Conference and EntreCon Awards
  • Assist with EntreCon Planning Committee member recruitment.
  • Recruit, coordinate and supervise volunteers for all SCI events
  • Assist with preparing and managing event budgets
  • Recruit new sponsors, partners, and donors for events.
  • Negotiate and create contracts for partners.
  • Work with the Marketing Manager to ensure partner contracts are fulfilled.
  • Speak at events to promote SCI.
  • Maintain a keen understanding of training trends and best practices.
  • Develop relationships and networks with other professional development training directors in order to share best practices and new initiatives.

Requirements
Knowledge and competencies required
  • 3-5 years of experience working as a project manager, event or conference planner, leadership/business development role, or similar role
  • Tech and computer savvy with proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Constant Contact, Survey Monkey, Canva — Database management and project management a plus
  • Deep understanding of employee engagement and fundamental leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including experience working with external clients
  • Proven ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate)
  • Experience creating leadership and professional development training, materials and training plans
  • Finance and Budgeting skills

Education and Experience

Degree or vocational education in training and development, education, or related field. One to three years of experience in a demanding leadership role, experience in a training environment.

Position type and working hours

This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, but often vary according to business needs.
