Job Summary

An estimator will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive project bids, collaborating closely with project managers, clients, and team to ensure the successful execution and delivery of projects.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

Tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Identify opportunities, participate in pre-bid meetings, and conduct thorough site visits to assess project requirements and scope.
  • Analyze project specifications and drawings to prepare detailed estimates for materials and labor. Utilize Accubid estimating software for precision.
  • Work closely with project managers, vendors, and engineers to assemble comprehensive and competitive bids.
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends and standards in the construction industry to enhance bid accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Maintain and update our internal cost database and estimators to reflect current market trends and prices.
  • Engage in post-bid meetings and participate in contract negotiations as required.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Skills

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred but not strictly required.
  • A minimum of 3 years in electrical estimating, with a proven track record of accuracy and success.

License/Certification

Preferred:

  • Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or Certified Construction Estimator (CCE) are advantageous.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Associated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, codes, and the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office 365 and Accubid. Familiarity with project management principles and techniques.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Utilize software and tools for data analysis, forecasting, and budgeting to develop accurate estimates.
  • Solid knowledge of construction and electrical industry practices, materials, and techniques.

Working Environment & Conditions/Physical Requirements

  • Requires sitting for long periods of time.
  • Occasionally extended hours and overtime may be required to meet workload demands.
  • Travel to job sites occasionally for job walks 20-40%.
