Job Description:

The Senior Industrial Designer will work closely with ID and engineering staff to manage and lead design projects for clients in the medical, consumer products, industrial and packaging industries. 

The successful applicant will have a high level of visual communication ability, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work closely and collaboratively with design and engineering staff. The applicant will be comfortable in a fast-paced work environment and self-motivated to meet professional commitments and contribute to opportunities that positively impact the business. 

In addition to creative design capacities and the ability for internal collaboration, the applicant must show an aptitude for entrepreneurship and a desire to grow a business. This role is blend of high-level industrial design execution and collaboration in building client relationships to elevate Force-4 visibility and credibility.

Responsibilities

• Provide brainstorm sketching, concept development, and additional support of proposals, reports, and marketing materials for engineering-driven projects, as well as concept sketching, development, and CAD modeling for design-driven programs
• Draft sketches and illustrations of potential products or work on enhancing an existing product/device
• Use detailed drawings, or computer-aided designs to demonstrate product potential
• Manage the fabrication of models and other physical samples
• Research on design trends and product audits
• Partner with design, marketing, and management staff to identify opportunities for developing marketing collateral, presentations, social media content, and website content for messaging at the appropriate levels
• Develop rapport and establish strategic relationships, both externally and internally
• Collaborate with staff and management to present, promote, and sell services with related industries
• Project Management, including proposal generation, resource planning/allocation, and budget tracking
• Facilitate up-front client engagement to establish project scope, deliverables, timeline, and client requirements to ensure client expectations are met
• Participate in meetings with prospective and current clients
• Interest in identifying opportunities to bring in new projects/clients

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Industrial Design from an accredited college
• Must be highly innovative, have an entrepreneurial spirit, and be a self-starter
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must have experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Experience in a consulting organization or as a service provider leader within an organization is preferred
• Project management experience required
• Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience
• Focus on human-centered design thinking and empathy
• Strong interest in brand design considerations and design language
• Exceptional sketching/visualization abilities (use of digital sketching software)
• Mastery of Solidworks (including surface and advanced assembly modeling)
• Proficiency in additional CAD packages (Fusion 360, 3D surfacing type software) is beneficial
• Demonstrated aptitude in mechanical systems
• Knowledge of standard manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, blow molding, metal forming, et al.)
• Experience in client-facing roles or in presenting to other stakeholder leadership
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Must be able to work in the USA without sponsorship or need for future sponsorship
