SUMMARY

The Product Designer works directly with Product Engineers to create and modify CAD part models and assemblies as part of the product design process. Additionally, they will create and modify production drawings per SSC standards and customer requirements. The Product Designer will help conceptualize and develop creative solutions for a wide range of new product opportunities, while maintaining a focus on Design For Manufacturability (DFM).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conceptualize and develop design solutions by creating and modifying CAD models and assemblies independently and with direction from Product Engineer
• Create and modify production drawings, with GD&T, per SSC standards and customer requirements
• Apply principles of Designing For Manufacturability relative to various production process (Die casting, injection molding, progressive stamping, sheet metal fabrication, etc.)
• Collaborate with Product Engineer, Tooling Engineering and outside vendors, during the part design process, to ensure design manufacturability and optimization
• Work with Product Engineer and CAE Team in design analysis
• Participate in and help facilitate product design review meetings
• Participate in problem solving and continuous improvement efforts
• Participate in DFMEA activities
• Proactively offer potential design solutions
• Assist in procurement of prototypes with direction from Product Engineer
• Perform tolerance stack-ups as required
• Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
• 5-10 years experience in product design using CAD
• Must be proficient with Pro/Engineer/CREO (Experience with Windchill preferred)
• Must have basic competence with Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to operate Catia V5 and/or UniGraphics NX is a plus
