Stratford Villa Post-Acute is a 27-bed five-star skilled nursing facility located in Downtown Livermore. We are looking for a committed, caring, and reliable Director of of Nursing, DON to join our team for our Skilled Nursing Facility!

The director of Nursing's responsibility is to direct the day-to-day nursing functions of the facility in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern long-term care facilities and in accordance with the policies and procedures specified for the operation of the facility to assure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to all patients/residents at all times.

  • Supervising and reviewing nursing staff
  • Overseeing the department budgets
  • Reporting to high-level staff members
  • Maintaining high standards of care
  • Managing patients’ data and medical records
  • Interacting with doctors, patients and family members
  • Overseeing staff operations, business planning and budget development
  • Ensuring the facility follows professionally set standards, including state and federal regulatory requirements
  • Planning and directing the nursing program
  • Maintaining relationships with patients and families
  • Overseeing inventory, order processing and distribution of products and services
  • Resolving escalated issues as they arise from operations and requiring coordination with other departments
  • Assist the DSD and nursing managers in the planning, conducting, and scheduling of in-service training classes, on-the-job training and orientation programs to assure that current material and programs are continuously provided.
  • Meet with nursing on a regularly scheduled basis, and conduct/participate in in-service classes and supervisory level training programs.
  • Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, etc., to keep abreast of current changes in the long-term care field, as well as to maintain a professional status.
  • Ensure that all nursing personnel attend and participate in annual OSHA and CDC in-service training programs for hazard communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens standard.
  • Ensure that residents and nursing areas are maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
  • Ensure that adequate nursing supplies and equipment are on hand to meet the day-to-day operational and emergency needs of the facility and residents.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident information.
  • Ensure that the resident's rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are maintained at all times.

EDUCATION:

  • A Bachelor's of Science (BSN) in nursing, and or a master’s degree, either in nursing or in an administrative field such as public health administration or business administration.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have at least 3 years of managerial experience combined with a clinical nursing work history and in formal education.
  • 2 years experience as Director of Nursing PREFERRED
  • Extensive experience as Registered Nurse PREFERRED
  • Interest in working with geriatric population

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Collaborates with physicians and administrators across departments and seniority levels.
  • Communicates effectively and has strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excels at relationship building and has strong leadership skills.
  • Learns quickly and has strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Develops strong relationships with patients and their families and has an excellent bedside manner.
  • Works calmly in high-pressure situations.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Must have an active registered nurse (RN) in California REQUIRED
