The WBL/CTR Coordinator coordinates and administers the Center’s work-based learning (WBL) program to ensure all students participate in hands-on, trade-related technical training in authentic work environments to improve employability skills and coordinates the Center’s career transition readiness (CTR) program and curriculum to ensure students projected for graduation are adequately prepared with job search techniques and have been assisted to remediate barriers to workforce entry.

Essential Functions

1. Engage with the community to develop strong employer partner networks to serve as WBL hosts and maintain positive relations.

2. Collaborate with the outreach team to promote a positive image of the program and solicit community members for participation on the Center’s workforce council.

3. Establish WBL agreements with employers in compliance with Policy and Requirements Handbook (PRH) Appendix 304 and Exhibit 3-1 and regularly visit WBL sites to ensure quality training in a safe environment.

4. Coordinate transportation and support services to assist students in meeting WBL assignments, monitor attendance, and coordinate regular evaluations by WBL site supervisors.

5. Engage with students via scheduled classes throughout their enrollment to progressively assist them in acquiring workplace readiness skills.

6. Provide an initial introduction to career transition readiness for new students during the career preparation period (CPP) and conduct an initial transition needs assessment.

7. Collaborate with the career management team (CMT) to evaluate student progress and project when students transition from one program phase to the next.

8. Network with career technical training instructors to promote job development and establish employer partnerships benefitting students.

9. Focus significant effort on assisting graduates to obtain employment prior to separation from the program and coordinate requests for career-related leaves for students to conduct job search activities.

10. Assist projected graduates to assemble a portfolio of documents necessary for job search and for obtaining employment including resume, licenses, credentials, and documentation of accomplishments.

11. Participate in department meetings and all mandated PRH and Strategix training.

12. Maintain accountability of staff, students, and property and adhere to safety practices.

13. Promote a harassment-free environment.

14. Utilize information systems and handle student data in strict adherence to Job Corps and Strategix policies to protect student’s personally identifiable information (PII) and reduce network security threats.

Minimum

Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field and one year’s experience working with disadvantaged youth, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation, and public speaking skills. Information technology proficiency including MS Office. A valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record is required.

Preferred

Teaching or training and facilitation experience is strongly preferred.
