Mid-Level Back End Engineer
Location: Chicago, IL FULLY REMOTE
Contract: 12-18 months

• Needs to have experience building and developing APIs
• Will be working within Agile Pods, based on Project roadmaps
  3-5 years of experience

THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:

In the backend engineer role, you will be responsible for supporting, planning, researching and implementing enterprise business solutions in a highly dynamic and fast paced environment. You will work alongside talented Technical Leads, Architects, Developers, Quality Engineers, and other stakeholders in our highly collaborative environment to deliver high quality solutions on time and on budget. This position plays a key role in establishing, executing, and supporting business critical Retail Media Management systems.

THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:

• Software Development - Contribute to the designs, development, testing, and documentation of complex programs from specifications and subsequent iterations, using coding standards and best practices.
• Team Collaboration - Work with and assist fellow developers to create readable, maintainable, scalable, testable, and proficient code. Also work across multiple verticals and all stakeholders to deliver software that is value added to the consumer.
• Requirements Definition & Management - Use established techniques to actively participate in planning sessions to identify current problems and elicit, specify and document business functional, data, and non-functional requirements.
• Research and Design - Keep up to date with the latest and greatest in all aspects of technology. Use this knowledge to assist in architecting and presenting potential solutions.

A successful candidate will be able to:

• Lead in the back-end development, code reviews, and standards of applications using, React, NodeJS, and Express/KOA and query languages
• Translate acceptable criteria into software.
• Partner with Product Owners to identify technical requirements and functional needs of upcoming features.
• Partner with Leads, and QA to develop well written and readable code.
• Solid understanding of database technologies such as SQL, NoSQL
• Ability to design and fully build out middleware technologies
• Solid understanding of react, node and api technologies.

REQUIRMENTS:

• B.S. in Computer Science or related practical experience.
• Diverse academic and professional background preferred.
• Vast experience and exposure working with Agile Development Methodologies and extreme proficiencies using Atlassian Tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.).
• 5 years experience in software development using backend technologies: GraphQL, Node.js, and OOO principles.
• Experience with version control systems: Git, BitBucket, etc.
• Proven ability to deliver and maintain high-quality, testable, scalable, and well documented software solutions that adhere to code standards and best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to build APIs for both internal and public use.
• Deep understanding of cloud services and environments.
• Ability to develop using TDD (test driven development).
• Nice to haves: Experience with Authentication service providers, Angular/React, Docker, K8s, CI/CD, and data visualization tools.
