Strategic Security Solutions has been installing and servicing commercial, industrial, and institutional security systems since 2002. We are based in Raleigh with regional offices in Lynchburg, Richmond, and Pittsburgh but perform projects worldwide. Strategic Security Solutions has grown to be one of the larger privately owned and most respected security system integrators in the Southeast, but we require additional high caliber people to continue our growth.

We are seeking a dynamic Installation Technician II.

Primary Purpose and Function

The Installation Technician II position is our middle level installation position that has enough experience to complete installation projects alone without a senior level installer assisting. This position is perfect for candidates who enjoy wiring and installing complex electronic systems and has a 2-3 years of experience. The Installation Technician II position is responsible for working with the Project Manager and other installation technicians to successfully complete a working electronic security system for all types of customers in the Raleigh area.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Install comprehensive video surveillance, electronic access control, intrusion detection, and other systems without the supervision of a senior installer.
  • Perform installation and programming of medium to intermediate complexity projects per scope of work documents.
  • Perform installations on complex projects with support from Field Support Engineers.
  • Follow device I/O schedules and drawings for complex designs.
  • Follow and/or adapt proper schematic wiring diagrams and termination procedures.
  • Test operation of system to confirm compliance the scope of work, 100% functionality, and customers satisfaction.
  • Mark up as-built drawings, system documentation and device schedules.
  • Ensure that systems are installed in a time efficient manner meeting project deadline.
  • Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, avoids damage to property.
  • Cleans up debris and work areas.
  • Interface and update operations manager or project managers with job status and project issues.

Job Knowledge and Required Skills

  • Possession of valid state issued driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Meet NC state requirements for alarm licensing and electronics security personnel as required.
  • Understanding of basic IP networking.
  • Good understanding of electronics, installation, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Good understanding of field test equipment and special tools i.e. multimeter, cable tester, fiber kit, pneumatic knockout set, pipe threaders, conduit benders etC.
  • Certification and/or good understanding of the programming and installation of the following supported manufacturers: Milestone, RS2, AMAG, Feenics, Lenel, OpenEye, Avigilon, Exacqvision, Genetec, 2N, and Bosch intrusion (within 1 year) is preferred.
  • Ability to proactively research technical documentation on line.
  • Able to lift 50lbs.
  • Able to safely work at heights on ladders and aerial lifts.
  • 2-3 Years electronic security industry experience.
