Fire Academy Instructor

Job Description

This individual will be responsible for teaching Public Safety and all levels of Fire Technology.

Candidates must be certified by the NC Office of the State Fire Marshal as a FireFighter II Instructor prior to teaching. Required years of experience may vary based on the highest level of education obtained.

Responsibilities: 

• Ability to build and foster partnerships within the community and promote Career and Technical Education programs. 
• Instruct, train, evaluate and monitor students while delivering current curriculum and competency based skills, relevant fire sciences and firefighting strategy and tactics, equipment, skills, and industry safety to students working to obtain fire science and related industry credits.
• Provide a safe and open learning environment for all students. 
• Coordinate hands-on skills training, industry certification testing, and incorporate fitness training in curriculum. 
• Remain dedicated to professional growth and development. 
• Maintain a record of dependability, flexibility, and regular attendance. 
• Meet all requirements of teaching in North Carolina as well as maintain certifications required by the CTE Division.
• Create a student centered classroom that is engaging and rigorous. 
• Collaborate and be a “team” player by establishing and maintaining cooperative professional relationships with local fire fighting agencies.
