Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The DSD job entails providing service aging populations in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served. This position may cover shifts as needed for proper staff coverage. This will include but not limited to desk nurse, CNA, LVN, Charge RN, treatments, etc.
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support the Organization’s strategic plan and the goals.
The DSD reports direct to the Director of Nursing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Must provide the highest quality of customer service and quality leadership skills at all times.
  • Provide through orientation to Certified Nurse Assistants and other long term staff to assure skills to properly use the EHR system and facility policy and protocols.
  • Provides and documents training of all staff in-services (RN, LVN, RTA and CNA) ongoing to ensure proper protocols, policies and regulatory requirements are met. Training should comply with regulation of Title 22 and all Dept. of Health compliance requirements and all other compliance requirements for a skilled nursing facility.
  • Maintains current nursing staff (RN, LVN, RTA and CNA) training documentation in very organized files including but not limited to in-service hours.
  • Report all training hours timely to assure license renewal or appropriate credits for training.
  • Maintain employee training files and have files ready for audit or survey at any time.

Final candidates must pass a pre employment drug test, health screen, TB test and criminal background check.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must be RN/LVN in good standing
  • Prior DSD experience required
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
  • Must maintain regular attendance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical exam if required
