Important things to know about the job:
  • Full-time position, 40 hours per week
  • Occasional weekend shifts to help staff unit or for education provided on the weekends
  • 2 years of Charge Nurse experience preferred
  • Must obtain CPR certification within one month of hire and NRP and ACLS within one year of hire.

JOB SUMMARY:
Ensures evidenced based care for patients and their support system. Through education, research, and collaboration with nurses and other health professionals, provides clinical leadership to advance nursing practice and to improve outcomes cost-effectively. Ensures courses are offered to assist staff in meeting their educational goals and new hires receive excellent orientation experience. Responsible for developing, conducting, and evaluating in-service programs, orientation and continuing education for nurses and other staff in Women’s Health. Develops educational policies and procedures. Serves as a resource person to staff and management. Participates in performance improvement activities; serves on special committees as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Licensed to practice in the State of Oklahoma.
  • Practices within the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
  • Current BLS card or completion within 30 days of employment.
  • Current ACLS and NRP card or completion of course within 1 year of hire.
  • 3-5 years of labor and delivery and special care nursery required; 2 years in a charge position preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and function appropriately in stressful situations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have strength and stamina for prolonged walking, standing, and dealing with stressful situations.
  • Demonstrates adequate vision, or correctable with glasses/contacts, to read and write.
  • Able to hear, or correctable with hearing devices, and able to talk to converse with others in person and over the phone.
  • Able to hear, see, and feel to accurately assess, monitor, and administer care.
  • Able to frequently lift at least 60 lbs., reach, pull, push, bend, stoop, and kneel.
  • Possess fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination to give care (i.e.: insert catheters, start IV's, administer medications, and handle instruments).
