Position Summary: The Staff Accountant will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions and play a key role in the month-end close process, posting many critical month-end journal entries and performing vital account reconciliations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Reconcile and record monthly bank activity
- Upload checks to the bank via the banking platform
- Prepare various journal entries for monthly close
- Prepare and upload the monthly premium and loss activity
- Assist with other month-end closing duties as assigned
- Intercompany allocations, reconciliations and settlements
- Prepare state income tax and various other accruals
- Maintain supporting schedules for various accounts
- Assist with special projects or reports, as needed
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, major in accounting or finance
- No accounting experience required, this is an entry-level position
Skills
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications (including: pivot tables and vlookup).
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Problem analysis and resolution skills.
- Ability to prioritize work, follow through, and meet deadlines.
- QuickBooks and Tableau familiarity ideal, but not required.
