The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Coordinator will implement, manage, and monitor safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements. Develop and continuously updates necessary corporate reporting processes. Evaluate the organization's procedures, facilities, and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. Ensure that the organization complies with all current safety regulations and communicates to ensure that all associates are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Collect data and reports on all safety and incident events. Additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, or other safety related activities. Safety Specialist will be part of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) as a member.
Duties:
·Responsible for organization of the Corporate HSE group; implementing reporting structures, improving processes, and leading regularly scheduled meetings
·Manage federal and local state compliance regulations and worker’s compensation
·Develop and coordinate training for general safety, accident investigation, emergency response, environmental regulations, and reporting
·Schedules, monitors, and recommends action based on pre-employment, return-to-work, and periodic physical examinations
· Assists with first aid treatment of on-the-job illness or injury. See that properly trained persons are available to render first aid. Maintain first aid treatment records and reports. Work with medical providers and insurance carrier on case management of injuries
·Develop and maintain emergency response and accident prevention plans. Organize and manage emergency response team
·Maintain and report monthly statistics pertaining to the plant’s safety record and corporate requirements
·Responsible for all environmental regulatory audits, inspections, and reporting. Storm water protection program (work in progress)
·Facilitate building insurance visits and recommendations
·Lead and mentor safety activities, safety committee meetings, and participate in global Safety Best Practice meetings
·Process all employee worker’s compensation claims
·Maintains contact with all employees absent from work with work related conditions
·Identifies and offers favored work as appropriate so that workers’ compensation disabilities do not extend further than is necessary
