Stifel is Hiring a Public Finance Intern Near Minneapolis, MN

Summary
Stifel's Public Finance Interns work in a collaborative team environment with our banking professionals. They will gain exposure to various public finance transactions and sector types. Interns are expected to work on multiple projects, with primary responsibilities in research and analysis related to transaction generation and execution. A Public Finance Intern's specific responsibilities may include conducting industry research, building financial models to analyze outstanding bonds or potential transactions, providing logistical and word processing support for marketing and RFP responses, preparing client presentation materials, completing bond cash flow analysis, and providing transaction execution support to the internal banking team working on live transactions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Analyzing and researching municipal issuers and borrowers in various sectors (general governmental, K-12, pension, economic development, higher education, etc.).
• Conducting industry research and building out industry databases.
• Preparing presentation materials such as PowerPoint slides and summaries for pitch books.
• Working with teams to execute financing transactions.
• Taking detailed notes during deal transaction meetings and conference calls to be used internally by the team.
• Performing basic quantitative financial analyses for new financing opportunities and other situations.
• Organizing workflow on discrete projects in which groups of part-time interns (paid and unpaid) work collaboratively on an assignment.
• May assist in training new interns on how to perform project-related tasks in support of banking teams.

Qualifications
• Excellent quantitative/analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Disciplined work ethic.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple simultaneous project deadlines.
• Ability to work in teams.
• Highly motivated and energetic.
• Demonstrated interest in public finance investment banking.
• Prior internship experience in investment banking or asset management is preferred.

Education and Experience
• Minimum Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Minimum GPA of 3.3.

Systems and Technology
• Intermediate to advanced skills in the Microsoft Suite of applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are required.
• Demonstrated experience working in Bloomberg, SDC, TM3, EMMA, and S&P Capital IQ is preferred.
