Stifel is Hiring a Financial Planning Specialist Near St. Louis, MO

Summary

The Financial Planning Specialist works with Financial Advisors to gather all applicable data, prepare, and explain financial plans for clients and prospects. This position may conduct a pre-review of financial plans created by some associates in the department. This position may present completed financial plans to clients and prospects. Assists branch offices in the use of MoneyGuidePro (Stifel’s online Financial Planning platform).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Communicates with Financial Advisors (and possibly clients) to obtain all necessary information for financial plan preparation.
  • Creates various levels of financial plans ranging from basic analysis to complex comprehensive plans using the MoneyGuidePro financial planning software.
  • Reviews and explains in detail the completed financial plans to Financial Advisors.
  • May assist with or present entirely completed financial plans to clients and prospects with Financial Advisors via WebEx or conference calls.
  • Provides support and training (via WebEx or conference call) to branches regarding MoneyGuidePro and financial planning best practices.
  • Assists Financial Advisors with information gathering while providing knowledge of the Wealth Planning questionnaire and the services the department offers.
  • Developing business opportunity identification skills.
  • Responds to in-bound Financial Advisor and Sales Assistant phone calls.
  • Trains new Financial Planning Associates on use of MoneyGuidePro and how to properly create basic financial plans while ensuring the department policies & procedures are learned and followed.
  • With moderate oversight, may conduct a pre-review of financial plans created by some associates in the department.
  • May spot-check random sampling of financial plans created by Financial Advisors.
  • May develop spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and other project items as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of the securities industry in general and various securities products.
  • Strong understanding of financial planning services and techniques.
  • Understanding of the financial planning process, department and Firm policies/procedures, and industry regulations related to financial planning business.

Experience & Education

  • Minimum Required: Business Degree in related field or equivalent work related experience.
  • Minimum Required: 3 years' securities industry experience with 1 year of financial planning experience.

Licenses & Credentials

  • Minimum Required: Series 7 and 66 (or 63 and 65 in lieu of 66).
  • Minimum Required: Life, Health, and Long-Term Care Insurance Licenses (or ability to obtain within 30-45 days of hire).

Systems & Technology

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • MoneyGuidePro
  • WebEx
