Our two campuses in Methuen and Haverhill have a total of 320 beds, and we are a full-service, acute care hospital offering comprehensive inpatient medical/surgical units, outpatient care, and 24/7 emergency services. We have three behavioral health units: cardiac telemetry, and critical care service lines. Our Haverhill campus offers all private rooms, and our Methuen campus offers a new state-of-the-art catheterization suite and Joint Center of Excellence, named as a Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacement.

Position Summary: FT, 36 Hours Days 6am-630pm

Performs, under minimal supervision, routine, and specialized testing on patient specimens to obtain information used in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.

Key Responsibilities:

• Obtains and processes specimen collection for laboratory testing according to department/section policy and procedures, collection of nasal swabs. Verifies accuracy of test specimen before testing.
• Evaluates patient situation and specimen appropriateness to check for possible source error, inconsistencies, and to take corrective action according to predetermined criteria.
• Consistently practices universal precautions.
• Completes duties in a time efficient manner, knows how to prioritize STAT orders using the STAT priority protocol, urgent orders, scheduled orders and outpatients.
• Successful in 95% of the venipunctures.
• Responds appropriately to calls. Arrives at the area requesting bloodwork within 10 minutes.
• Performs all office functions, which may include registering patients.

Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of phlebotomy course with diploma preferred.
• Experience: Prior experience working as a phlebotomist or in a related healthcare role preferred.
