Sterling St James is Hiring a Woodworking Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor Near Greenville, NC

We are currently seeking a Woodworking Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Greenville, NC. As the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for planning and leading daily activities in the areas of safety, quality, and reliability-focused maintenance practices.

This includes supervising a team of millwrights, electricians, and mechanics, conducting team meetings and trainings, and proactively addressing reliability concerns.

Additionally, you will coordinate activities with production teams to maximize productivity and minimize cost, reduce waste, resolve employee issues, and ensure adherence to site policies and procedures.

Key Functions

  • Collaborate with the team to proactively identify safety issues and implement measures to address concerns
  • Supervise maintenance activities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work completion
  • Utilize predictive and preventive maintenance systems to minimize unscheduled downtime
  • Effectively troubleshoot issues to meet volume and quality goals
  • Implement training processes to enhance the team's technical skills
  • Utilize computer-based programs for prioritizing maintenance requests, managing maintenance inventory, and delegating maintenance resources

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a maintenance supervisory role within an industrial environment
  • Proven ability to lead a team, ensure accountability, and achieve department metrics and goals
  • Experience in leading and enforcing safety initiatives
  • Knowledgeable in hydraulics, air systems, mechanical drives, mechanical components, installation methods, troubleshooting and repair techniques, welding, and basic industrial electrical
  • Expertise in preventive and predictive maintenance methods
  • Ability to identify root causes of problems and take immediate corrective action
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and develop associates through coaching and development
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Strong work ethic, good judgment, and decision-making skills
  • Track record of leadership, positive influence, and accomplishments in safety, environmental, quality, productivity, and people development
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and other Windows-based programs
  • Experience with Maintenance Planning software such as SAP is a plus
