Sterling St James is Hiring a Nursing Education Director Near San Jose, CA

Job Description

The position of Nursing Education Director in San Jose, CA entails a range of responsibilities. These include overseeing, developing, planning, coordinating, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the nursing program activities. The director will also support the Administrative Nursing Director and Chief Academic Officer with various program aspects and special projects.

Key job responsibilities include:

  • Planning, developing, managing, updating, and evaluating all program aspects
  • Preparing data and written materials for state and Nursing Board requirements, reports, proposals, self-studies, surveys, and site visits
  • Ensuring compliance with program-related BVNPT regulations
  • Assisting in identifying and obtaining external resources for the nursing program
  • Developing and implementing program policies and procedures
  • Serving on committees and organizing meetings
  • Overseeing the admission process and orientation
  • Acting as a liaison between the college and the community
  • Establishing and maintaining educational partnerships with clinical sites
  • Conducting clinical site evaluations, including assessing risk, hazards, student safety, and staffing adequacy
  • Collecting evaluations from students, clinical site representatives, and faculty for each clinical rotation and providing a summary report
  • Updating and maintaining clinical contracts
  • Participating in nursing faculty recruitment, hiring, and orientation
  • Facilitating faculty meetings and ensuring accurate record-keeping
  • Assigning and scheduling faculty to courses and clinical sites
  • Monitoring instruction quality and participating in program reviews and evaluations
  • Providing advising, support, and planning assistance to potential students
  • Orienting students to nursing skills lab and clinical facilities
  • Participating in recruitment and admission planning
  • Ensuring students meet graduation and licensing exam requirements
  • Participating in Nursing Advisory Committee meetings
  • Engaging in professional development and maintaining CE hours
  • Keeping up-to-date on State rules and regulations related to Vocational Nursing

Qualifications

  • A master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university, with coursework in nursing, education, or administration
  • At least three (3) years of experience in leading a nursing program
  • At least three (3) years of experience as a full-time faculty in a pre- or post-licensure nursing program
  • At least one (1) year of experience teaching in an online teaching and learning environment
  • A minimum of four (4) years of continuous full-time experience as a registered nurse in geriatrics, medical-surgical, mental health psychiatric nursing, obstetrics, or pediatrics within the past five (5) years
  • A valid, active license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN)
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Action-oriented, innovative thinking, and flexible
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work within deadlines
