Sterling Events Group/Sterling Spaces is Hiring a Food and Beverage Manager Near Advance, NC

Salary Grade: Exempt Grade 6

Reports to: Director of Operations, Sterling Spaces

Job Description Summary:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills involving Spaces staff, clients, and all guest interactions
  • Ability to make decisions using independent judgment that exemplify our Sterling Spaces Mission Statement and 11 Commandments
  • Ability to resolve conflicts among guests and/or employees in a professional manner
  • Excellent knowledge of food and beverage category, vendors, and vocabulary
  • Demonstrated knowledge of alcohol service, products, vendors, and vocabulary
  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures, budgeting and purchasing tasks.
  • Proficiency in all Spaces utilized software systems, including Office 365 with a working knowledge of Caterease and Prismm (previously, AllSeated) preferred.
  • Ability to work with the Operations team to organize space and equipment for all catering and beverage related functions
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to manage F&B staffing with our Operations team in relation to scheduled events at all Spaces venues, adhering to budget guidelines.
  • Ability to train staff members on a variety of F&B subject matter
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record; must be insurable.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred and/or five years related managerial experience in an upscale catering venue, hotel, or restaurant environment, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees operations of all food and beverage services to all Sterling Spaces venues, including CFG for events and warewashing.
  • Coordinates with our Venue Leads on all aspects of guest service during events, including staffing for FOH, Bar Leads, and Bartenders.
  • Meets with clients and in-house staff as needed to determine optimal menus and bar services for all events
  • Assists the Director of Operations with the implementation of budgets for food and beverage, works within that budget by managing payroll, Spaces food costs, and menu profit margins effectively.
  • Keeps current on trends related to industry service standards and best practices.
  • Monitors and updates F&B menus and Bar Services menus for accuracy, seasonal trends, and margins.
  • Orders and maintains proper levels of all Spaces food and beverage products, including bar inventory, non-alcoholic inventory, and related supplies.
  • Keeps all NC ABC and NC ALE bar licensing and reporting up to date and handles all new venue NC ABC applications.
  • Monitors cleanliness and upkeep of our venues and the equipment used by Spaces staff. Oversees sanitation and cleanliness standards in all related services areas.
  • Oversees quality and presentation of all food products. Evaluates for internal and external feedback the presentation of buffets and food stations, coffee breaks, and bars. Ensures that the service and presentation standards are maintained by our staff and all outside vendors.
  • Communicates daily with Director of Operations regarding any service-related issues.
  • Maintains an excellent level of employee and guest relations.
  • Attends weekly BEO and other scheduled meetings as requested
  • Enforces rules of conduct and discipline in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth in the Spaces Employee Handbook.
  • Ensures that subordinates have proper equipment and supplies with which to do their job.
  • Assists the Director of Operations with personnel procedures as requested, including the following: interviewing, hiring, training, disciplining, terminating, handling transfers, employee performance reviews, promotions, increases, and disciplinary actions on our staff.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

***Note this position will frequently have evening and weekend hours to help lead our Spaces team in hosting events at each of our venues.***

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
