About this Opportunity:

Stephen Joseph Companies is currently seeking a qualified Design Coordinator with an internship or entry-level experience in the children's and or women's gift market to join our fast-paced product development team. We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented person to make all new product ideas for our Stephen Joseph gift line a reality. The Design Coordinator partners with the internal departments of Design, Sourcing, Sales, and Production to ensure timely execution of the product development process prior to purchase order confirmation.

Job Responsibilities & Functions:

• Reports to the Product Development Director
• Collaborates with the design and product development team to create new on-trend gift products for our Stephen Joseph brand.
• Prepares detailed product Tech Packs.
• Candidate must have a strong color sense and eye for detail to ensure all categories are correctly merchandised and color coordinated.
• Candidate must be very organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment to meet all established time and action deadlines.
• Responsible for all phases of sample approvals involving lab dips, screen prints, applique, embroidery and packaging.
• Conducts product production quality checks to help maintain our established standards and assist our purchasing and testing manager regarding testing of new products.

Coordinator manages workflow from initial concept through final placement of styles including the following:

• Request, track, and log approvals of fabric construction and qualities.
• Create, review, and update tech packs in Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Request, track and review samples.
• Responds to daily e-mails within 24 hours.
• Communicates with succinct and efficient style.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to adapt to change.
• Team player with the ability to partner with others to effect solutions.
• Prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Awareness of trends, price points, and competitive landscape.
• Understands target customer and product vision.

• Exhibits clear and concise communication written and verbally.
• Willing and eager to learn and understand cross-functional skills.
• Must be able to lift 25lbs, bend, kneel, and stoop to maintain an organized sample collection.

Requirements:

• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
• College degree in design, product development, or related degree required.
• Work experience in a design related field preferred.
• Strong design & color sense.
• Excellent organization, presentation and communication skills.
• Demonstrates strong strategic thinking and problem solving ability.
• Product and packaging design skills preferred.
• Compensation will be based on experience.
• Strong proof-reading, spelling, and grammar skills required.
