General Job Description

This is a professional position responsible for coordinating certification testing and state and federal reporting for the university’s Educator Preparation Program.

Works under general supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Assistant Director, Educator Preparation Program. Essential Job Functions

  • Prepares university, state, and national reports for accreditation.
  • Oversees the data collection for and prepares annual Accountability System for Educator Programs Report (ASEP), Title II Report, Legislative Budget Report (LBB), and other required reports.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Strategic Analytics and Institutional Research on LBB.
  • Attends and participates in state organization meetings related to testing and reporting.
  • Communicates with contracted credential testing companies to ensure the latest testing information and requirements are known, understood, and implemented.
  • Collaborates with the certification officer on certification testing needs for educator preparation candidates.
  • Participates in class visits, orientations, and seminars by providing testing information to educator preparation candidates.
  • Advises students on testing requirements related to certification testing.
  • Advises departments on the scheduling and organizing of certification testing.
  • Works with university faculty, advisors, and department chairs as it relates to testing and data needs.
  • Provides internal and external stakeholders as well as the general public with relevant certification testing information.
  • Participates in university and governmental meetings related to certification testing and reporting.
  • Provides support to events led by the Office of Assessment and Accountability.

  • Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, university policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, statutes, regulations, codes, and standards related to the area of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of state certification policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of data management and related technologies, including spreadsheet manipulation and relational databases.
  • Organizational skills in managing projects simultaneously while maintaining a satisfactory work product.
  • Skill in using computer applications including spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.
  • Ability to learn office- and university-specific software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to set priorities and complete assignments on time.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
  • Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively and patiently with students.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain knowledge of university curriculum and degree requirements and to interpret them in the context of individual student needs.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

Physical Demands Required Education Bachelor’s degree is required. Related experience may be substituted for required education on a basis set forth by the Department of Human Resources.

Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field is preferred. Special Conditions for Eligibility This is a security-sensitive position subject to criminal record check.

This is an IT-sensitive position subject to the Computer and Network Security policy. Min Pay Rate Mid Pay Rate Salary Information Salary Grade - 14, Commensurate with Experience Specific Job Requirements / Duties for this Posting Is Background Check Required?

No Benefit and Retirement Eligibility This position is eligible for participation in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) retirement plan, subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
