STEM Greenhouse is Hiring a Fund Development Coordinator Near Grand Rapids, MI

Job Description

STEM Greenhouse is seeking a part-time Fund Development Coordinator. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Fund Development Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination, organization, and management of administrative functions.

This position will also be responsible for writing and submitting grant renewals, reports, and other content to support the development and marketing team’s fundraising goals. This role will ensure the proper management of STEM Greenhouse’ including tracking key deadlines, supporting strategic donor communications, and collaborating with programming staff as necessary.

Candidates who can also speak Spanish or other languages are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

50% - Office Management

  • Greets and establishes rapport with visitors, guests, program participants, sponsors, donors, and other community members.
  • Performs general administrative functions such as answering phones, typing, copying, faxing, and filing.
  • Ensures office supplies are sufficiently stocked and prepares supply orders as needed.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other team members to support organization functioning
  • Other duties as assigned.

50% - Fund Development

  • Manage reporting process for current grants, including tracking deadlines, writing narrative reports, working with members of the Program team to report on project activities, and coordinating with the Finance team to track grant expenditures.
  • Manage gift processing, including entering information in the database and facilitating timely donor acknowledgment.
  • Support the Development team’s use of donor database, ensuring data is up-to-date and accurate, producing reportings, and helping to manage Executive Director’s funder relationships in the database.
  • Compile organizational information to share with the Board of Directors on a quarterly basis
  • Work with Executive Director and Marketing Director to plan and execute events: (open houses, donor acknowledgements, etc.)

Preferred Candidate Competencies and Attributes

  • Extensive experience with urban youth, children of color and children in poverty.
  • 1 years of administrative and managerial experience
  • 2 years of professional experience in grant management preferred.
  • Efficient and independent with strong attention to detail
  • Passion for/commitment to education and fundraising
  • Significant experience with project management
  • A strong work ethic, supported by commitment and excellent follow up and follow through.
  • Willingness to “pitch in” and work as a team player on a spectrum of activities from supporting initiatives administratively to contributing to and executing strategy.
  • Highly organized, resourceful, and quick to learn - this role handles a multitude of varying responsibilities simultaneously and must be organized, able to plan work, schedule their time, to drive toward successful completion of all commitments and deadlines
  • Communication and Analytical - Communication is critical to the success of this role both in the writing of grants materials as well as in communicating regularly with all stakeholders on status and progress, ensuring clarity of understanding. Comfort with working with numbers, and interpreting budgets and data analysis is important to this role’s success.
  • Information Sharing - as a key driver of grant reporting, ensuring effective and timely information distribution is critical.
  • Emotional Intelligence - working in the fundraising space involves a lot of interaction with others; being able to put others at ease, be friendly, sensitive, and warm is important to be effective in this role
  • Technical Skills - Excel spreadsheets, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, etc.

Role Classification and Benefits

This role is part-time, with a starting salary of $25.00/hour. There may be opportunities to transition into a permanent role within the organization.
