Stellar Industries, Inc. is looking for a team member to lead its Purchasing department. This person will be responsible for the strategic direction of the Purchasing department as well as the coordination of the Purchasing team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.
  • Maintains close coordination with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities.
  • Secure and analyze quotations and negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers.
  • Interview and confer with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Develop and present metrics regarding market conditions, pricing, supplier on-time delivery, and quality.
  • Develop and communicate material/component forecasts to suppliers.
  • Visit current and potential suppliers’ facilities to qualify them as sources.
  • Lead supplier development initiatives.
  • Participate in projects and continuous improvement processes.
  • Interview and hire staff and oversee staff training.
  • Execute cost savings initiatives to meet annual cost savings goals.
  • Develop operating strategies, plans, or procedures.
  • Complete special projects, assignments, and other duties as assigned.

Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. This position also operates in our manufacturing facilities and is required to follow our safety policies.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or other business related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience preferred.
Qualifications
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing methodology and approaches.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate. effectively with managers and employees at all levels.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in industry procedures, costs, and terms.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently under pressure and react quickly to changing needs of production or customers.
  • Demonstrate the ability to reach logical, responsible, and timely decisions.

  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
