Role/Responsibilities/Qualifications

Stellar Solutions Inc. is seeking a visionary Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with a strong background in both industry and government financial management. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of the intelligence community and the space domain, coupled with exceptional attention to detail, leadership qualities, and the ability to navigate the complexities of managing personnel and IT resources. This individual will partner closely with the CEO to drive our financial strategy and lead a diverse and talented team of 300 employees across the US, Europe, and the UK.

Your Impact in this Role:

  • Develop and execute a robust financial strategy aligned with the company's goals, taking into account industry and government regulations
  • Partner with the CEO to maximize revenue and control costs while maintaining our unique Stellar culture
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis to ensure the company's financial health and sustainable growth
  • Leverage your deep knowledge of government financial management, compliance, and reporting to ensure our operations meet regulatory requirements
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks while optimizing financial performance
  • Guide contracting team in negotiating and executing fixed price, fixed price LOE, and Time & Materials (T&M) contracts
  • Leverage your understanding of the intricacies of the space domain, including market opportunities and technical aspects, to guide strategic decision-making
  • Collaborate with the CEO and CTO to provide financial insights and drive cross-functional alignment
  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of financial professionals, instilling a culture of accountability and excellence. Evaluate, assess, and correct behavior as needed to improve business processes and outcomes. Position requires hands-on leadership
  • Establish performance metrics and help build sustaining processes to support a growing business. Share your financial expertise with engineers, promoting business acumen and fostering a holistic approach to innovation and technical excellence
  • Oversee Human Resources and Information Technology (IT) resources, ensuring the efficient operation of both functions to support our business goals
  • Work closely with the Ventures arm and Foundation to align financial strategies with the company's philanthropic and investment initiatives

Qualifications

You should have:

  • Proven experience as a CFO or in a senior financial leadership role
  • Strong background in government financial management, ideally within the intelligence community
  • In-depth knowledge of the space industry, its technical aspects, and future market opportunities
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in personnel and IT resource management
  • Ability to navigate regulatory compliance and financial reporting requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a large team and drive results
  • Willingness to teach engineers business acumen
  • A forward-thinking approach to financial strategy

Desired skills:

  • Comfortable with customer engagements
  • Government proposal experience

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/accounting (preferred) or Business
  • Advanced degree a plus
  • PMP, DIAWIA PM Level 3, or other Program Management certification a plus

Security Clearance and Background:

  • US Citizenship required
  • Must have Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain an SCI

Location/Travel Requirements:

  • Primary location – our Chantilly, Virginia office
  • You will be required to travel occasionally to support customer and internal meetings

Compensation:

The typical pay range for this position is USD $200,000 - $350,000 per year, total package. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus, and a full benefits package including a significant profit-sharing retirement savings plan (all included as part of package).
