Title: Universal Banker I

Responsibilities

1. Promotes and cross-sells the Bank’s products and services by assisting customers in their selection to meet their financial needs.
2. Performs safety deposit duties by opening accounts, controlling access, assisting customers and accepting rental payments.
3. Receives and places stop payment requests, check recorders and wire transfer requests.
4. Makes decisions regarding the opening of new accounts, completes forms requiring customer signatures, accepts initial deposits; prepare all documents and items pertaining to checking accounts, savings accounts, and certificates of deposit.
5. Reviews reports necessary to the job and maintains a superior level of accuracy in work.
6. Follows policies and procedures; completes tasks correctly and on time.
7. Provides assistance to the Banking Center Manager when needed.
8. Maintains confidentiality of customer information.
9. Ensures compliance with all bank policies and procedures.
10. Answers phones and directs callers to proper Bank personnel.
11. Refers customers to the proper department for issues that cannot be resolved in their area.
12. Receives retail and commercial checking and savings deposits by determining that all necessary deposit documents are in proper form and issuing receipts.
13. Cashes checks, savings withdrawals and makes cash advances; confirms all necessary documents are properly authorized, are in proper form and are within authorized limits; makes decisions when questionable items are presented for cashing.
14. Assists with night depository duties, logging bags, processing deposits, making change orders, issuing receipts and returning bags to customers.
15. May assist in opening and closing the vault daily; assists in balancing vault currency and coin.
16. Accepts loan, installment and collection payments.
17. Balances cash drawer daily and verifies cash being returned to the vault.

About You:

1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum 1 year or more of related experience. Work-related experience should consist of a financial institution with customer service and opening of new accounts and teller functions.
2. Basic knowledge of state and federal banking compliance regulations and other Bank operational policies.
3. Intermediate typing skills
4. Basic math skills, the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers. Locate routine mathematical errors; count currency; coin and negotiable instruments in a timely manner.
5. Effective oral, written and interpersonal skills. Effective time management skills.
6. The ability to understand and follow procedures, write correspondence and speak clearly to customers and other Bank employees.
7. Ability to deal with difficult problems and work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
