Who We Are

Stella represents an expression of artistry across the mediums of cuisine, art and design. Italian for star’, Stella is inspired by the traditions of the traveling hearth of the coastal and pastoral communities of Southern, Central and Northern Italy, enriched with local California, seasonal ingredients.

A creative collaboration between restaurateur, Janet Zuccarini, and Executive Chef Rob Gentile, Stella brings modern twists on age-old Italian culinary traditions to West Hollywood.

The Role

Curate an Awesome Guest Wine Experience

• Support Wine & Beverage Manager with monitoring systems to ensure consistency in product and service
• Touch tables and build rapport with guests
• Pour wines for guests with precision and professionalism, adhering to proper serving techniques and standards
• Ensure that wines are served at the correct temperature and in appropriate glassware
• Educate guests about the restaurant's wine selection, including the origins, flavors, and characteristics of various wines
• Offer recommendations and guide guests through the wine menu to enhance their dining experience
• Assist guests in selecting wines that complement their meal choices
• Provide expert advice on pairing wine with specific dishes to enhance flavors and overall enjoyment

Support Management of Beverage Operations

• Support management of POS and system updates
• Collaborate with the restaurant's management team to oversee wine inventory, including stock levels, ordering, and storage
• Monitor wine quality and ensure proper rotation to maintain freshness and optimal taste
• Co-Host training sessions for restaurant team to enhance their knowledge and understanding of wine
• Provide ongoing guidance and support to servers and other team members to ensure consistent and exceptional wine service.
• Work wine-related events and promotions to engage guests and promote the restaurant's wine program
• Collaborate with vendors and industry partners as directed by the Wine & Beverage Manager to organize tastings, wine dinners, and other special events

Maintain Safe Workplace

• Operate in compliance with Health & Safety Act
• Ensure safe food handling in being followed
• Follow all liquor board and RBS training standards for safe serving

Who You Are

Preference will be given to those who possess :

• Proven experience as a Sommelier in a high-end restaurant or similar upscale setting.
• Extensive knowledge of wines, including varietals, regions, production methods, and vintages.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate guests.
• Excellent wine service skills, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence.
• Proficiency in sales techniques, with a track record of driving revenue and maximizing sales.
• Certification from a recognized sommelier program (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, Wine Spirit Education Trust) preferred.
• Strong Leadership and Communication skills
• Strategic and Innovative Thinker
• Valid California RBS and ServSafe Food Handler Certifications
• Valid First Aid & OSHA Management Training an asset
• Passionate, Positive, and Approachable
