Job Description:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Operations, the Division Manager directs all the operations of the Transfer Station within Company guidelines and State Environmental Quality Rules and Regulations; and supervises the operators, laborers and all other personnel assigned to the transfer station. This position requires work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, as necessary by the department, and during inclement weather.

• Supervises all Transfer Station operators, independent contractors, laborers, and other assigned personnel
• Maintains good contact with General Manager and provides feedback on operations.
• Supervises and ensures that all the required reports and paperwork are completely and correctly filed out and submitted.
• Checks cleanliness of Transfer Station areas.
• Supervises and inspects daily operations of the Transfer Station including heavy equipment, transfer trailers, to ensure that operations at the Transfer Station are performed as smoothly and safe as is possible.
• Identifies, schedules, and supervises the maintenance activities at the Transfer Station. These activities include removal, replacing of hydraulic hoses, remove and replace hydraulic cylinders, perform other maintenance as required.
• Investigates and documents accidents and property damage.
• Conducts and documents safety instructional meetings with personnel.
• Responds to after-hours calls and fills in for other employees as assigned.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent and a minimum of two years of solid waste experience and two years supervisory work experience.
Physical Requirements:
Work is considered heavy physical work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must possess strength, stamina, and mobility to perform heavy physical work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions with exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals.
Must be able to:

• Walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, and crouch for extended periods of time.
• Visually inspect small defects and/or small parts.
• Operate machines, motor vehicles, hand tools, and job specific equipment and tools; determine the accuracy and thoroughness of work.
• Demonstrate the ability to hear and accurately interpret mechanical, technical, and business information in an environment subject to noise, vibrations, etc.; and
• Perform all work safely in a fast-paced work environment.

Additional Requirements:

• Knowledge of industrial electrical and hydraulic systems, medium and large solid waste equipment and tractor trailers.
• Ability to schedule, assign, and oversee Transfer Station operators, independent contractors, laborers, and other assigned personnel.
• Ability to drive a semi-tractor and trailer, track hoe, front end loader, and use mechanical tools, power washer and hand tools.
• Knowledge of mechanical operation of diesel equipment.
• Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on same equipment.
• Ability to operate equipment safely and avoid hazards.
• Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers.
