Description

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Mechanical Engineer continues to keep production moving and promptly resolve any problems or issues that may arise. He/she ensures the new designs from the Research and Development team are properly converted into the Steiner eOptics ERP and PDM Systems. This position is also in charge of facilitating the ECN and CI meetings to come up with creative fixturing to assist production/testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Works with Quality Control, Purchasing, and the rest of the Engineering team to correct issues to keep a steady production flow. This includes:

o Editing bill of materials

o Correcting drawings

o Helping Quality Control with issues

o Assisting Purchasing with vendor issues

• Assists with New Product Development. This includes taking designs from the Research and Development team and putting the new design into E21 and PDM. Creates drawings, tolerance stack up, and sealing to make the product manufacturable.

• Works with Engineering Changes including BOM’s, drawings, E21, and PDM.

• Assists with continuous improvement projects on the production floor and processes.

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned (ie: fixturing, testing, reports)

Requirements

· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering

· 5-7 years preferred experience in related field

· Proficient in Solidworks

· Proficient in Excel

· Proficient in PDM Enterprise

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

· Knowledge of ERP systems

· Good problem solver using creative thinking

· Working knowledge of o-ring design/sealing

· Knowledge of tolerance stackup, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and bill of materials (BOM’s)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· Frequently requires handling and repetitive motions of materials and materials weighing up to 25 pounds

· Frequently sitting in a cubicle environment with occasional walking/standing

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

· There are no direct reports for this position

WORK ENVIRONMENT

· This position is in an office, cubicle environment with close access to an assembly environment

· Full Time

· Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM

· Less than 10% of the time is required for travel
