Job Overview:

Steele & Company is a global buyer and seller of dry edible beans, peas, and lentils. We are seeking a detail-oriented Logistics Coordinator who will be an integral part of our team. The individual will be responsible for ensuring a seamless flow of product from regions within and outside the US to our customers while maintaining compliance of shipment requirements. This role will have significant engagement with freight forwarding companies, suppliers, and customers. The individual will be required to perform general office duties as well as learn key responsibilities and tasks of positions within the company for back up coverage.

Initial responsibilities, but are not limited to:

• Manage and schedule international and domestic freight bookings at the pickup locations for delivery within the U.S. and internationally.
• Manage the relationship with the freight forwarding companies, negotiate cost effective rates, and evaluate and review invoice accuracy. Evaluate potential freight forwarders from time to time to ensure best solution.
• Manage import/export process to ensure compliance with shipment paperwork and import/export customs requirements.
• Liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of goods.
• Stay informed on local and international regulations concerning logistics and food safety.
• Proactively seek opportunities to streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance the overall effectiveness of import and export logistics.
• Assist in excellent customer and supplier management and general offices duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Effective and professional communication skills and demeanor
• Possess problem-solving and negotiation skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, finance, or business.
• Experience in Transportation Management or Logistics Coordination
• Experience in the agriculture commodities industry.
• Knowledge of required documentation and workflow for shipment of goods
• Familiarity with supplier management, sourcing, freight handling, and procurements processes
• Proficiency in logistics software, Microsoft Office Suite, and systems for tracking and managing shipments.
• Understanding of equipment and systems commonly used in logistics.
• Affluent in Spanish
