Position

As a Principal Scientist in the AI Drug Design group, you will establish start-of-the-art capabilities and build the laboratory team responsible for high-throughput screening and characterization of proteins for drug design and discovery. You will work collaboratively with protein designers, biologists, computational scientists, and other drug discovery team members.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology, Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Protein Chemistry, or similar field
  • Strong expertise in Yeast or Mammalian Display screening with antibody or protein libraries
  • Experience leading a small group of associate scientists in an industry setting
  • 7 years of experience in Biologics discovery and engineering
  • Proficiency in the latest molecular biology cloning techniques
  • Experience setting up and configuring lab facilities and processes
  • Proven contribution to therapeutic development and selection is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with researchers from diverse fields, including computational and experimental biologists, and provide scientific guidance, support, and leadership as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior research associates.

Nice to have Skill(s)

  • Discovery of novel and biologically relevant biologics highly desirable. 
  • Experience in other cell-based screening methods 
  • Experience in structural biology (X-ray crystallography or cryo-EM) is desirable.
  • Expertise in NGS sample prep is beneficial
  • Proficiency with protein purification and reagent generation
  • Hands on knowledge of multiple analytical techniques including, SEC HPLC/UHPLC, BLI/SPR, Flow Cytometry, and similar
  • Experience using LIMS and Benchling systems.
  • Experience with liquid handling, robotics, and workflow automation is highly desirable
  • Substantial experience with DNA synthesis and protein production CROs and lab vendors.
