As a Senior Oracle Database Administrator, your role involves designing, developing, and maintaining databases for our Space Ground Systems. Collaboration with systems engineers, hardware designers, and software engineers is essential to create reliable, high-performance database solutions. This position requires security clearance and is based onsite in Pensacola, FL.

Responsibilities

The senior database administrator will use their expertise in database management to lead the development and maintenance of complex database systems for Space Ground Systems. Key duties include:

• Designing and improving performance for large-scale Oracle databases to ensure they are reliable, scalable, and responsive.
• Working with software engineers and system administrators to determine database needs and specifications.
• Reviewing and optimizing existing system codes.
• Contributing to design reviews, system integration, and achieving program and project milestones.
• Following and enhancing procedures for operations concepts, system requirements, and interface management.

Qualifications

• Must possess an active, transferable TS/SCI CI Poly U.S. government-issued security clearance before starting.
• A Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) is required (Master’s degree in STEM field is preferred.)
• A minimum of seven years of Database Administration experience, with skills in installing, configuring, and maintaining RDBMS such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, and proficiency in SQL scripting.
• Experience with Oracle Label Security (OLS), WebLogic, or Oracle Internet Directory (OID) is essential.
• Knowledge of Oracle Spatial Indexing and field indexing is necessary.
• CompTIA Security certification is required for Privileged User Access.
• Proficiency with source control tools like BitBucket and Git.
• Demonstrated ability to enhance database query response times.
• Expertise in managing and optimizing large Oracle relational databases (over 1 Petabyte).
• Skilled in developing RDMS migration strategies and automating database tasks.
• Experience providing support to software engineering teams, including schema development for microservices and resolving database bottlenecks.
• Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite.
• Understanding of satellite communication systems and protocols.
• Awareness of secure coding practices, preferably in defense or aerospace sectors.
