Summary/Objective

This position will be involved in our essential general accounting functions. This will include but not be limited to new customer setup, supplier finance programs, sales tax including other state and local returns, import vendor payment process, year-end activities, and key projects to support ongoing development of financial reporting and controls of the company. This position will provide support as needed to both our accounts receivable and payable departments and will be a back up to perform some duties of the Accounting Manager and Senior Staff Accountant positions.

Essential Functions

• New Customer Setup to include establishing credit terms for new customers and ensure they are properly setup in our system. 
• Manage our supplier finance programs to include running posting reports, preparing analysis to ensure payments are accurate and reconciliation to our general ledger. 
• Manage the sales tax of the company to include but not be limited to monthly reconciliation of our sales tax returns and general ledger. Ensure proper setup of our customers and items for sales tax processing and compliance with all state and local tax laws. 
• Manage our reporting requirements with both states and local governments. 
• Manage our import vendor payments and prepare both wire and advance forms. 
• Assist in year-end activities such as 1099 preparation, other year-end reporting, and tasks. 
• Supports the CFO, Accounting Manager and Senior Staff Accountant with daily accountings tasks and projects. 
• Complete Accounting and financial projects as assigned. 
• General ledger account reconciliations and analysis. 
• Research and resolve discrepancies. 
• Backup other team members where needed. 

This is a full-time job that operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Over time may be required based on the needs of the business. No travel is required.

Required Education and Experience

• Associate degree in accounting or finance degree 
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience in an accounting-related field. 

Preferred Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance degree 
• Previous experience working in a multi-state wholesale or manufacturing environment. 
• Previous experience working with sales tax and/or state and local tax reporting. 
• Previous experience with Avalara or relevant sales tax software
• Proficient in Microsoft Office – specifically Excel
