Minimum Qualifications Non-competitive NY HELPS: Bachelor's or higher degree.

Transfer Candidates - Current New York State Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Health Program Administrator, Grade 18, OR a New York State employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a title eligible for transfer, via 52.6 or 70.1, to a Health Program Administrator, Grade 18.

Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidates will have strong analytical, verbal skills, and organizational and written. They will be committed to providing exceptional customer service. They will also have the ability to analyze and problem solve, work with various stakeholders inside and outside of the office. The incumbents will be willing to take initiative, be resourceful, and have the ability to work in a team environment.

Duties Description Join our team of dedicated administrative professionals. The Center for Environmental Health is seeking individuals to perform diverse professional administrative coordination and operations support functions in the programs they serve. Tasks include support for financial management, recruitment, and program operations functions. The Program Administrators also develop and manage grants, budgets, and contracts to ensure that expenditures are timely and appropriate; lead recruitment activities; and function as a liaison between the program and various administrative groups in the Department to support administrative operations.

Additional Comments Two full-time, permanent, competitive or non-competitive positions. Transfer candidates may be asked for their social security number to verify eligibility.

Non-competitive appointment may be made under the NY HELPS program. NY HELPS waives Department of Civil Service examination requirements for certain positions for a period of one year. For additional information about the NY HELPS Program, please refer to https://www.cs.ny.gov/help/.

Positions may be filled at a trainee level (equated to Grades 13 or 14), or Grade 18, depending upon the qualifications of the candidate.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position.
