State University of New York Cortland is Hiring a Deputy Title IX Coordinator Near Cortland, NY

Reporting to the Title IX Coordinator, the Deputy Title IX Coordinator is responsible for performing day-to-day responsibilities associated with the University’s Title IX investigations and training with a particular emphasis on investigating allegations of sexual assault, sexual harassment, relationship violence, and stalking allegations against students. This position will assist with provision of trainings and presentations for the campus community and assist with administrative reporting related to federal, state, and SUNY reporting.
Major Responsibilities
Serve as Deputy Title IX Coordinator
Investigations & Case Management:
  • This position will be the primary investigator for the Title IX Office.
  • Responsible for conducting prompt and thorough investigations for allegations brought against students related to sex and gender discrimination including allegations of sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking.
  • Inform parties and witnesses of the investigative process and relevant college policies.
  • Identify and interview parties and witnesses, gather and secure relevant documentation and evidence.
  • Act as a impartial party in the investigation and provide a detailed, unbiased, high quality summary investigative report.
  • Work collaboratively with campus offices and community partners to resolve complaints and maintain accurate records of investigations.
  • Assist in the implementation of case management and supportive accommodations for students not seeking a formal complaint process.
  • Participate in on-going training required by state and federal law
Training:
  • Assist the Title IX Coordinator in identifying training, prevention, education, and outreach needs for the campus community based on both current trends and state and federal law requirements.
  • Assist the Title IX Coordinator in the development of training, prevention, education, and outreach efforts for the campus community.
  • Assist the Title IX Coordinator in the implementation and assessment of training, prevention, education, and outreach efforts for the campus community.
  • Present on topics related to Title IX to the campus community.
Title IX Administration:
  • Assist the Title IX Coordinator in administrative responsibilities and reporting relating to federal and state laws and regulations including, but not limited to Title IX, due process protections applicable in college conduct proceedings, the Clery Act, VAWA, FERPA, and sexual violence.
  • Implement best practices and relevant and/or required changes into campus processes and responsibilities.
Functional and Supervisory Relationships
  • Reports to Title IX Coordinator
  • Works closely with Student Conduct Office
  • This position involves close interactions with individuals who have experienced physical and/or emotional trauma.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience effectively dealing with sensitive and complex issues.
  • Experience in the development and delivery of training.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and evidence of success in working with individuals with diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree.
  • Investigative experience in such areas as student conduct, education law, equal opportunity/affirmative action, human resources, or other related fields. Professional experience conducting investigations preferred; investigation experience in a college setting highly preferred.
  • Training in trauma-informed investigation techniques.
  • Experience working with college students and the student conduct process.
  • Title IX related training or certification through a nationally recognized organization.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulations as they pertain to Title IX, due process protections applicable in college/university student conduct proceedings, the Clery Act, VAWA, FERPA, 129-B (Enough is Enough) and sexual violence.
  • Ability to remain impartial and work under stress.
  • Ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Demonstrate sound judgement in reviewing and evaluating information, and in determining findings.
  • Demonstrate excellent skills and abilities in conflict resolution, problem solving techniques, interviewing, and investigating.
  • Ability to write concise, logical, and analytical reports to convey complex issues.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and explain complex legal documents to variety of audiences in an understandable manner.
  • Ability to listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individuals.
  • Ability to flex interpersonal style to most effectively interact with, and support others.
  • Ability to present education and training to small and large groups of students and employees.
  • Demonstrate high ethical and moral standards.
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends to support the operational need of the office and the university.
