Job Description : The State University Construction Fund (Fund) is currently seeking an Associate Facilities Planner - Space Planning to join our Capital Program Management & Finance team at our office in Albany, NY.
The Associate Facilities Planner - Space Planning is responsible for supporting campus space planning including both self-performing and managing consultant performance in the following areas : space needs analyses, space utilization studies, enrollment trends analyses, higher education trends, benchmarking, and best practices, facilities master plans, building programming studies, capacity analyses, course schedule analyses, compression planning, SUNY master capital plan activities, suitability analyses, space inventory management support activities including space auditing, and numerous special planning and capital support studies and activities.
Requirements : Work with colleagues in Program Management, including Director, Assistant Director, and Asset Manager to develop, monitor, and assist with the implementation of space requirement for campus capital projects and capital plans.
Serve as a subject matter expert and organizational resource on space data and space planning requirements.Stay current with best practices and higher education trends, including through research and participation in professional societies.
Interface productively with partner entities - including SUNY System Administration, SUNY Office of Capital Facilities, SUNY Provost and Institutional Research, campus provost offices, campus enrollment management offices, campus executives, etc.
on enrollment data and space utilization to inform capital plan and capital project development. Prepare system-wide analyses of enrollment information, space use, space needs, capacity, facilities master plans, and other analyses.
Work with team members on developing crosswalks between enrollment information, space data, and building data; assist in implementing related dashboards and graphical / tabular methods of organizing and communicating information.
Communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.Interpret, utilize, and play key role in updating SUNY Space Guidelines and standard consultant deliverable requirements and review procedures.
Work with colleagues to analyze various data and inventories, including building characteristics inventories, asset and conditions information, tabular cost estimate information, building plan information, and other data as it relates to space information, planning studies, and capital projects.
Prepare status reports and presentations including graphical and text information.Work closely with and communicate professionally with a wide range of professionals in academia, planning, finance, and design and construction, where frequent independent interpretation and decision is required and must be balanced with effective team work and consensus building.
Organize, prioritize and perform under pressure.Manage tasks and initiatives effectively without direct supervisory authority.
Travel occasionally with teammates or alone to SUNY campuses.Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Architecture, Architectural Technologies, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, Education Administration, or other related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of experience in planning or educational facilities required.
The preferred candidate will have at least 5 years of successful experience in higher education administration which includes some experience working with space management inventories, space data, and institutional research information.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with computational analysis, statistical techniques, databases, pivot tables, report preparation, and research techniques required.
Technical construction management or architectural production experience not required but may be considered.Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
This position does not require a NYS Civil Service examination.Additional Information : Salary range : $77,673 - 114,444 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
