State Tractor & Equipment is Hiring a Field Technician - Level II Near Kansas, KS

State Tractor & Equipment, a family-owned company and a leader in the heavy construction equipment industry, is currently looking for an experienced Field Technician - Level II (Heavy Equipment and On-Highway trucks) to join our team of heavy equipment experts at our headquarters in Kansas City, KS!
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Perform mid-level repairs, adjustments, and preventative maintenance on heavy machinery
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot failures, make recommendations for repairs
  • Provide detailed service reports in a timely fashion
  • Perform steps of Cause, Condition, Correction with minimal supervision
  • Maintain up-to-date technical certifications, licenses, mechanical training, and product knowledge that aid in completing job duties
  • Read and comprehend electrical and hydraulic schematics, specification and ratings, service and parts literature, technical bulletins, and other related publications
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Must be able to self-manage repair schedule

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Education and Experience:
  • Must have 2 years of related work experience (experience in agriculture, OTR trucking, and/or heavy equipment industries) is required.
  • Must have a general understanding of various engine scanning software
  • Must have general mechanical knowledge that includes general experience in electrical and hydraulics
  • Understands crane hoist and rigging equipment (preferred)
  • Must possess hand, power, and some specialized mechanical tools
  • Must be willing and able to complete and maintain factory level certifications/trainings
  • Valid driver license including a clean driving record subject to background check
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to climb and navigate various terrain / sites as needed
  • This position may require bending, stretching, kneeling, crouching, lying, climbing, and other various movements as needed to navigate in/on/around heavy equipment.
  • Many movements required to perform the essential functions of this job may require a degree of strain on muscles, joints, and tendons.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this position may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Use of hands to touch, handle, and feel; use of hands and arms to reach
  • Talk and hear
  • Must be able to frequently lift and / or move items over 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to maintain a valid health card in accordance with DOT regulations and standards
