Position Summary
Under general supervision of the Transaction Information for Management of Enforcement (TIME) & Technical Services Manager, this position provides advanced technical training, direction, guidance, and technical assistance to local law enforcement agencies throughout the State of Wisconsin on Crime Information Bureau and National Crime Information Center functions, especially the TIME System and identification process. This position conducts audits of criminal justice agencies to comply with the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) policy and Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) policy.
Salary Information
The Staff Development Specialist position is in pay schedule and pay range 81-04. The starting pay will be between $30.00 - $33.00 an hour. Pay for current or former state employees will follow the provisions found in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Job Details
There may be the potential for limited remote work after completion of probation. Travel to the headquartered location will not be reimbursable.
The Department of Justice does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.
A background check, including fingerprints, will be completed on applicants prior to selection.
Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants must have education, training and/or experience in the following : Preparing, conducting, and implementing in-person and computer-based training programs for the law-enforcement field. Training users on the TIME System or acting as a subject matter expert with years of experience with the TIME System or an equivalent system. Coordinating logistics for training events. Preparing and updating written materials, such as newsletters, training materials, and/or manuals.
In addition to the minimum qualifications, a well-qualified applicant will have education, training, and/or experience in the following : Troubleshooting and communicating technical information to end users. Conducting audits and evaluations to verify conformance of set standards. Experience applying or interpreting CJIS Security Policy.
