The Office of Court Operations is seeking a qualified, dedicated, and professional attorney to fill the role of Legal Advisor. The Legal Advisor advises Judges and Wisconsin Court System staff on the interpretation of laws and rules. The selected individual will join a team of court operations policy and legal professionals in conducting in‐depth legal, policy, and program analyses and research. Job duties include identifying issues, researching and addressing inquiries, evaluating and interpreting legal and policy information for administrative, judicial and other circuit court staff on a broad range of issues. This Legal Advisor position will be responsible for managing the Wisconsin Court System’s VAWA STOP Grant, which is federal money used to educate court professionals on topics related to domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Additional assignments include working with court system committees, assuring the circuit court’s compliance with applicable state and federal laws and drafting of petitions, procedures, administrative bulletins and other organizational communications. LOCATION: Office of Court Operations, Madison WI. Certain positions with this Department may allow remote work for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic may be discussed in the interview process. Employees residing outside the state of Wisconsin are not eligible for full‐time remote work.
SALARY: The hiring salary range is $72,756 to $81,172 annually, depending on qualifications, a State of Wisconsin benefits package is included. Additional information on benefits can be found at www.wicourts.gov on the Employment page under Benefits Overview.
