This limited term appointment (LTE) position is located in the Division of Facilities & Transportation Services, Bureau of Enterprise Fleet and is headquartered at the State Records Center at 4622 University Avenue

Madison, WI 53705.

The mission of the State Records Centers is to develop and implement a comprehensive state-wide records management program to assure that records are maintained and retrievable until their authorized disposition. Provide program leadership, technical assistance and high-quality service to customers, to manage the creation, dissemination, utilization, organization, retrieval, retention and eventual disposition of records.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for controlling inventory coming to and going from the State Records Center (SRC) as well as managing all inventory housed there. This includes following appropriate storage procedures for the distribution and management of boxes, files, electronic tapes, and rolled plans. Additionally, this position will be responsible for pulling daily orders in both office and warehouse environments, generating basic reports using a computer and hand-held scanner, and driving either a transit van (Class D driver’s license required) or a 25’ straight truck on a rotation schedule with other staff.
This position works independently but also as part of a close team. The hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30 am-4:00 pm, with no exceptions, reporting to the SRC daily.

Salary Information

The starting hourly rate for this position will be $19.55 per hour. This classification is assigned to pay schedule/range 03-11. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the compensation plan.

Job Details

Due to the nature of the position, DOA will conduct fingerprinting and background checks on applicants prior to selection. DOA does not sponsor work visas. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form upon hire.
This position requires comply with random drug and alcohol testing in addition, meet DOA Fleet driving standards including a minimum of two years driving experience with a standard class D, driver’s license; Ability to utilize pallet jacks, carts and ladders or similar throughout the day; Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; bend, stoop, twist, pull and push; climb up and down ladders; and reach overhead to pull and place boxes weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without accommodation.

This position is Limited Term Employment (LTE) and is limited to 1,039 hours in 26 consecutive pay periods (1 year).

Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions.

Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants will have experience:

  • Process confidential records in accordance with administrative rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Utilizing excellent customer service skills. Comfortable working with a wide range of state agencies.
  • Utilizing an inventory database via desktop computer and hand held scanning equipment.
