Introduction
The City of Marinette Fire Department invites applications for the position of Firefighter to establish a list for future vacancies that may occur over the next twelve (12) months. We are seeking talented and service-oriented people to join our team and assist us in providing the very best service to our community. The City of Marinette Fire Department is a full-time fire department. The department provides fire, EMS and other emergency services to over 11,000 residents in a 7.5 square mile area. The department has automatic aid response with the Menominee Fire Department as well as mutual aid with area departments in Marinette County.
Position Summary
Procedure: Applicants who meet the qualifications will be contacted to take the written examination. The examination process may include a written test, oral interview, physical ability test, and background investigation. All phases of the examination must be successfully completed in order to continue in the selection process. Failure in any segment of the examination disqualifies a candidate from continuing in the selection process. Eligibility List: Candidates who successfully complete all phases of the examination will be placed on an eligible list for consideration for employment. Conditional Offer of Appointment: Candidates offered employment must pass a pre-employment medical examination and drug test as a condition of employment. Final appointment to the position of Firefighter is contingent upon passing all pre-employment components, the number of vacancies, and approval by the Fire and Police Commission.
Salary Information
$58,938.88 - $65,520.00 (2023-2024 Contract) & Great Benefits!
Job Details
Residency requirement: Must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin and live within a thirty (30) mile radius of the jurisdictional boundary of the City of Marinette within six (6) months of hire. A standard 56/hr. work week on a 24 on/48 off work schedule will be assigned.
Qualifications
  • Wisconsin Certified Firefighter II
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License
  • Minimum of EMR (Emergency Medical Responder); Hazmat Tech is preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum age of 18 years old
  • Must pass a written exam
  • CPAT Certification (no older than six (6) months or must complete within six (6) months of hire).
  • Proof of completion for Entry Level Driver Operator Pumper.
