State of Wisconsin Department of Revenue is Hiring a Revenue Near Appleton, WI

We are looking for a self-motivated individual for a challenging and rewarding position as Revenue Agent, Revenue Agent 2, or Revenue Agent 3.

Position Summary

Revenue Agent - This is an entry level professional position responsible for achieving compliance with tax laws administered by the department through education and collection activities.

The work involves providing assistance to customers, financial institutions, government agencies, and other partners regarding unpaid debt, collecting overdue taxes, establishing tax liabilities, obtaining tax returns, reviewing financial information, locating customers, and educating customers on tax laws.

The work is specialized and involves advanced knowledge in the following processes :

  • Conducting revocation and nonrenewal actions on seller's permits held by delinquent retailers;
  • Obtaining compliance with tax laws from customers that possess either an occupational license or credential issued by a state agency;
  • Working as levy and Financial Record Matching experts training internal and external staff on levy law, policy and procedure.

Revenue Agent 2 - This is a developmental level professional position responsible for achieving compliance with tax laws administered by the department through education and collection activities.

The work is specialized and involves advanced knowledge in the following processes :

  • Conducting revocation and nonrenewal actions on seller's permits held by delinquent retailers;
  • Obtaining compliance with tax laws from customers that possess either an occupational license or credential issued by a state agency;
  • Working as levy and Financial Record Matching experts training internal and external staff on levy law, policy and procedure;
  • Assessing delinquent taxes to a responsible person or a successor business

Revenue Agent 3 - This is an objective level professional position responsible for achieving compliance with tax laws administered by the department through education and collection activities.

The work involves providing assistance to customers, financial institutions, government agencies, and other partners regarding unpaid debt, collecting overdue taxes, establishing tax liabilities, obtaining tax returns, reviewing financial information, locating customers, and educating customers on tax laws.

Salary Information

Salary Ranges : Revenue Agent (07-04) - $25.18 per hour; Revenue Agent 2 (07-04)- $25.18 to $33.36 per hour; Revenue Agent 3 (07-03) - $26.

34 to $43.46. per hour depending on experience and qualifications, plus excellent benefits. Current state employees' pay will be set in accordance with pay upon appointment provisions for the compensation plan.

An 18-month probationary period may be required.

Job Details

The department will conduct a background check and tax non-filer check, and fingerprint checks on all finalists.

Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States. The Department of Revenue does not sponsor work or student visas, either at time of hire or at any later time.

DOR participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information for all new employees to confirm authorization to work in the U.S.

Remote / Telework up to 60%. Note : During probation you can gradually increase up to 60% based on performance and workload needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Experience with delinquent tax collection
  • Training or experience with Income, Corporate, Sales / Use, Withholding and specialty taxes
  • Experience working in a team setting and working independently.

Well Qualified will have the above and the following :

  • Experience or training with Seller permit revocation and Personal Liability
  • Experience with the Department's WINPAS system
