The Outreach Headquarters is located in Federal Way, WANote - This is a school year based position and is not scheduled to work during annual school closure. Our team consists of specialists in: American Sign Language, audiology, deaf plus, educational interpreting, listening and spoken language, literacy, school psychology, Signing Exact English, social-emotional learning, speech-language, teaching strategies and curriculum, and transition (birth-22). We offer support to students, families, and school districts through direct services, state-wide events, and professional development opportunities. We are a state-wide resource dedicated to ensure that all deaf and hard of hearing students in Washington receive the support they need to reach their full potential and achieve their goals. About the position: CDHY Outreach Team is seeking to fill a full-time school year Teacher of the Deaf position to serve students, districts families and other professionals throughout the state of Washington. This position includes hybrid working conditions with both teleworking and in-person assignments. The Outreach Teacher of the Deaf is responsible for providing exemplary education services and developing strong working relationships with school districts in order to best serve students. This position works in collaboration with other Outreach professionals to provide -the best possible options and support for student achievement.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provide K12 Teacher of the Deaf Outreach services to the deaf and hard of hearing children and youth to include: direct student instruction, observation and consultation, evaluations, and professional development/training to students, parents, and other professionals. Follow, provide, and suggest appropriate IEP goals that is best fit for the student you are serving. Complete benchmarks on students’ Individual Education Plan (IEP) ranging from preschool to 12th grade.Evaluate and provide suggested goals and benchmarks for students with a 504 Program.Establish and maintain rapport with students and staff and maintain a positive learning environment conducive to promoting academic and social growth of the student.Coordinate a schedule of services, observation and consultations, and meetings with staff across a variety of settings.Conduct evaluations and support staff in the evaluation process upon request, including implementation of assessments and best practices for students who are deaf/hard of hearing.Work collaboratively with associated professionals including external educational personnel, partnership agencies and fellow members of the Outreach Team.Work with district administrators to recommend the appropriate service delivery to meet student needs.Provide direct student instruction.Demonstrate student learning through ongoing data collection in all areas of teaching responsibility. Using formative and summative data, set goals based on current levels of performance and expected outcomes in learning.Use data from regularly administered assessment tools and practices tracking student learning and progress and adapt instruction as necessary.Maintain current data, always demonstrating student progress for review by administrative staff.Other duties as assigned by the Outreach Director.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
CDHY is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Must be able to pass federal and state criminal background screening.Must have valid WA State Teacher certification and driver’s license prior to beginning work. Requires up to 50% travel. Salary Information: Certificated employees are paid in accordance with the Vancouver Public Schools Salary scale. Certificated employees' salary is calculated using the designated daily rate based upon degree, credits, and years of relevant experience. Certificated staff receive 12-month pro-rated salary and are designated as overtime-exempt employees. This position is scheduled to work 192 days per school year.
