State of Washington is Hiring an Employment Specialist Supervisor (WSS6): WorkSource Whatcom Near Bellingham, WA

As a Supervisor within the WorkSource Whatcom office located in Bellingham, you will be supervising staff both in-person and virtually and will need to interact with staff on a regular basis in order to offer assistance. You will oversee, direct, support and supervise teams of professional staff, responsible for ensuring the day-to-day availability and delivery of WorkSource system core and intensive services to job seekers, and the delivery of services to employers and customers and providing targeted business outreach to area employers. Additionally, programs supervised may include Trade Act Adjustment, Business Services and Outreach to our local region, Unemployment Services, Front Desk and Resource Room Services, The AmeriCorps Program, Labor Exchange, Reemployment Services, Reentry Services, The Migrant Seasonal Farmworker Program, Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) Program, Veteran’s Program and WorkFirst Services to a wide range of customers both internal and external.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
We will rely heavily on your experience working collaboratively with a diverse group as you ensure alignment of initiative and priorities associated with the strategic plan and aligning with the mission, vision and values of the ESD. You are responsible for ensuring the day-to-day availability and delivery of WorkSource system core and intensive services to job seekers, the delivery of services to employers and customers and providing targeted business outreach to area employers. Our WorkSource Supervisors play a key role in the success of our offices as they have the ability to provide positive solutions to ensure continuous quality improvement to achieve superior customer satisfaction, high quality and efficiency in service delivery. This role is located in Bellingham, Washington and offers a hybrid schedule of 1 day a week of remote work with the remaining days of the week reporting to the WorkSource Whatcom office. What a typical day looks like: Develop and support high-performance, integrated work-team management approaches, consensus-based decision–making and continuous quality improvement practices.Plan, schedule, assign and direct work activities; guide, coach, and mentor staff; provide and/or authorize staff training and professional/career development.Review and interpret state and federal rules and regulations, inform staff of agency changes and adjustments.Ensure policies and procedures are understood and followed, design and deliver related training.Follow the collective bargaining agreement; manage all personnel functions in accordance with the agreement and agency policies.Generate measurable performance expectations, conduct audits/evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.Coordinate team assignments with partner managers and staff to ensure consistent delivery of program and services; delegate and oversee committee and work-team activities; supervise and support other teams when administrator is unavailable.Develop and promote continuous quality improvement service delivery processes to meet the changing needs of the customer and agency; deliver services based on customer response and feedback; schedule program services and activities; respond to data and information requests from internal and external customers; resolve customer issues and complaints.Interpret and implement applicable federal and state laws, regulations, policies and/or program and service delivery changes; understand and follow all employment and training directives, expectations, and performance measurement standards; administer the UI Work TestParticipate in all WorkSource activities; maintain a high level of communication with customers, regional directors, administrators, staff, and partnering agencies regarding program directives, training information, workshops, and related coordination; meet regularly with partner agencies to promote integration and ensure high-quality customer service to co-enrolled customers; work with area teams to establish or modify processes or procedures and resolve problems.
