There are over 400 sailings each day on 10 ferry routes. WSF transports nearly 17 million passengers a year and has more than 1,800 employees. Employees perform a variety of duties on vessels, in terminals, at the maintenance facility, and at the Seattle headquarters. The OpportunityWSDOT is currently seeking a Planner to develop detailed planning products to ensure comprehensive work for assigned shops. This position reports to the Operations Manager and supports the Vessel Maintenance and Terminal Maintenance Managers. What to ExpectAmong the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, you/the Eagle Harbor Planner will: Define all aspects of the work assigned including boundaries, scope, interferences, technical requirements,, QA/QC requirements, material, necessary trade skills, and detailed material and man-hour cost estimates. Review automated work requests.Develop detailed and accurate labor and material estimates.Validate labor, material, and equipment estimates.Support Vessel Maintenance Manager and Terminal Maintenance Manager.Maintain quality assurance and quality control database. Oversee work package process improvement program. QualificationsTo be considered for this opportunity, the following are required: Must have a comprehensive and thorough knowledge of the full range of principles, concepts, and practices related to ship/terminal repair and overhaul programs including modernization. Ability to read, interpret, and work from sketches and drawings.Ability to estimate and develop work packages from formally written scope.Knowledge and experience in technical writing to develop detailed reports, recommendations, planning documents, and correspondence concerning labor conditions, production costs, methodology, and processes. Must have good written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.Applicants must be able to work well alone and as part of a team. Familiarity with computer software such as MS Office suite, MPET/EAM, Tech Library, SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPoint.Eligibility to obtain a TWIC Card within 30 days of employment.Ability to obtain/maintain a valid Washington State driver's license, or the ability to obtain other means of transportation to reliably travel to required work sites. It is preferred that qualified candidates also have: Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification. WBS and Scheduling practice standards.Marine and or shipyard experience. Military service in USCG or US Navy is acceptable as marine or shipyard experience.
