Keeping Washington Clean and Evergreen
The Environmental Assessment Program (EAP) within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a Client Services Technician (Laboratory Assistant 1) position. This position is located in our Manchester Environmental Laboratory (MEL) in Port Orchard, WA.Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.
Are you interested in laboratory analysis and working in an environmental lab alongside chemists and environmental scientists? This position is a fantastic opportunity to gain laboratory experience and learn about how an environmental lab works. In this role, you will provide essential client services and support for Washington state’s primary environmental laboratory. You will start many days quite early picking up samples at the airport and transporting them to the lab. The samples come in coolers weighing up to 50 pounds each. At the lab, you will check in the samples, process paperwork, record data, prepare collection bottles, and manage lab inventory. Your success in this role will require comfort working in a laboratory setting and strong flexibility, multitasking abilities, teamwork, and collaboration skills.

Program Mission: The mission of the Environmental Assessment Program is to measure, assess, and communicate environmental conditions in Washington state.
Schedule: This position is required to work in the office five days per week. The scheduled workday will begin at 6 a.m. at least three days per week for sample collection at the airport.
