State of Washington Office of Financial Management is Hiring a Systems Analyst Near Olympia, WA

Description

This position is allocated as an IT Business Analyst-Journey and approved for in-training; therefore, it may be filled at either the Entry or Journey levels depending on qualifications.
What this job is about:
As a Systems Analyst, you will perform specialized analysis, consulting, troubleshooting, testing, customer support, documentation of issues resolution, and training. Your work will support enterprise applications and systems that support fundamental statewide accounting functions, for stakeholders throughout the state of Washington using established methods, processes and tools. In-depth knowledge of enterprise accounting applications, collaboration, effective communication, and independent critical thinking will be paramount when providing technical support in this fast-paced environment where we strive to provide assistance as quickly and accurately as possible.
Note: Telecommuting is available, but you must be able to come into the office in Olympia WA when necessary. We will do our best to give reasonable notice.

Duties

What you’ll do:

  • Apply technical analytical skills to analyze and evaluate processes, system changes and issues and identify and resolve operational problems with high risk or impacts to customers.
  • Analyze impacts of complex and critical system incidents/failures.
  • Obtain knowledge of new technology to provide ongoing support after implementation.
  • Provide technical support to business partners.
  • If system improvements are approved, support, maintain and participate in enhancing the applications.
  • Use standards of the software development life cycle to follow strategies, plans, and procedures within IT software.
  • Apply technical knowledge of the applications.
  • Use Azure DevOps to collaborate with development teams.
  • Partner with a variety of individuals and groups working across OFM divisions, statewide agencies and higher education institution.
  • Establish and maintain a working relationship with business owners, customers and end users of enterprise systems, acting as a liaison between business partners and technical staff to interpret both the end user and technical viewpoint in requirements gathering, testing, communications, and planning for business cycles.
  • Participate on project teams to develop project deliverables.
  • Report on severity of issues, enhancement requests, steps to replicate issues, screenshots, known workarounds and other key data.

Qualifications

This position has been approved for in-training; therefore, it may be filled at the IT Business Analyst Entry or Journey level.
ENTRY LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS (Salary range: $68,628 - $92,340)
Required:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related technical/business discipline (Note: two years of relevant professional experience may substitute for the educational requirement).
  • One year demonstrated experience:
    • analyzing systems and data, consulting and providing customer, end user or technical support in information technology enterprise applications.
    • with accounting and finance line of business applications with a solid understanding of contemporary requirements specification, verification and management practices and the ability to apply them throughout the software development lifecycle.
JOURNEY LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS (Salary range: $79,296 - $106,644)
Required:
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related technical/business discipline (Note: two years of relevant professional experience may substitute for the educational requirement).
  • Three years demonstrated experience:
    • analyzing systems and data, consulting and providing customer, end user or technical support in information technology enterprise applications.
    • with accounting and finance line of business applications with a solid understanding of contemporary requirements specification, verification and management practices and the ability to apply them throughout the software development lifecycle.
